As you carry me for the first time

Like you saw an angel from above

A blessing that you’ve been waiting to have

You took care of me like a treasure

You protect me from any harm

You joke around whenever I’m down

You do your best to not make me frown

You lecture me so often

About how to deal with things

How to react in certain situations

How to survive the world we’re in

And now that I’m growing up

All your words are in my heart

You suddenly wish the time would stop

You’re afraid I’ll no longer hear you out

But here I am still listening to you

As you finish your words I hope you’d hear this too

I am thankful to have a father like you
